Well you may have noticed that I have been a bit quiet lately… Here is what has been happening!
About 3 weeks ago I got two emails with in two days of each other, one saying “CONGRATULATIONS” you have been excepted into the next round of “The Great Australian Bake Off” and the other (from a friend) suggesting that I apply for this really great job (at a higher education institution similar to the work I use to do)

I applied for the job, started practicing my baking skills and hoped for the best. The week before the bake off I got a call saying that they would like to interview me for the job. Monday job interview, Tuesday Wednesday, great Australian bake off.
I must say the interview went very well, but I did get the impression that they thought I was over qualified and maybe the job wouldn’t be challenging enough for me… and the great Australian bake off was a fantastic experience, much better and less stressful than Masterchef, I must say!
In the end I didn’t get the job, didn’t get through to the final of the cooking show to get on TV, but I learnt a few valuable things along the way.
Did you know that I’m a baker…. I know I am a good cook and I love cooking and I am definitely a foodie, but baking is so much fun, so I have decided to do more of that and have some lessons in decorating and that sort of thing as well as experiment with breads more. I also bought a book that has a recipe that is 6 pages long (2 of them are ingredients and it takes 3 days to make), so I am going to give it a go!
I also discovered that I really don’t want to go back to teaching or working in education. I love my job as a Thermomix Consultant, it is amazing. I never thought I would ever do direct sales, let alone demonstrate a cooking appliance, but I really do believe in what this incredible machine can do and how it can honestly make your life better! I have the best team, group leader and branch manager and I am going to work my but off to grow my business so that I don’t need to do anything else, except my blog.

The last revelation is that I really love my blog… I am going to work hard over the next couple of week to create some things that I have been thinking about for a while now. I’m not sure if you realise, it takes a lot of work to do a blog… not that I mind at all and it is always wonderful when you come on and leave comments, questions and suggestions for me. So this has what has been happening over the last couple of weeks. I should be back into the swing of things as of this Sunday with a wonderful afternoon treat that you will want to have a go at making 🙂
Oh and in the middle of all that I cooked for 3 days over a weekend for 35 people at a camp at Natural Bridge, I wish I have time to take some photos as it was so beautiful, but I spend 18 hours a day in the kitchen, so not much time for anything else, as you can see, life has been a bit hectic!
Thanks so much for reading and sticking with me… If you have any suggestions or things that you would like to see on my blog, please pop in and leave me a message!
and remember to
ENJOY IRRESPONSIBLY!!!!
Liz xx
Here are the recipes of the photos I posted above
Snickerdoodles (Thermomix Method Included)
Hi Liz – yes I was wondering what you’ve been up and have missed your blog. My computer stopped functioning again, so I needed to purchase another, and I’ve also been unable to blog lately. But I wanted to let you know I made the Snickerdoodles – they were delicious and very moorish. Funny thing was that my girls and their friends knew all about them – I had never heard of them. Look forward to the tomato relish recipe – always goes well with a nice blue cheese. Love Chris xx
Yum… I have never has tomato relish and blue cheese, we always eat it with steak and chicken and anything really… But I’m going to give it a go with Blue cheese now 🙂
I son’t have a laptop and would really love one, but don’t have the cash as the moment, but it is on my wish list 🙂 Liz xx
Liz, you are amazing! I totally loved my ‘Mother Hubbard’ experience and look forward to buying a thermomix from you in the future and also look forward to hearing more from your blog.
I really think that you have found a niche in what you do and you are so good at it!
Be encouraged, I think you are doing the right thing at this time, and I really believe that this is just the beginning of your exciting journey. I cant wait to see what the future holds for you.
Be blessed and Enjoy! xx
This is just lovely vicky… thanks so much… I’m so glad that I was able to help you and I look forward to our follow up 🙂 Liz xx
Lovely post Liz – yes, blogging does take a lot of time. But so pleased that you have been able to work what you love and want to do.
Thanks for the love Rachel…. now to catch up on all the blogs I miss out on while I was so busy 🙂 Liz xx
Go you good thing! Wow Liz, you’ve seriously been kicking some goals your end. #proud 🙂
I love that you have made some big decisions about your future and that you are looking to do the thing that you love most. Magic happens when we do that.
I shall toast you this eve lovely lady.
PS: I need something to impress my foodie friendly guy, any suggested you have would be greatly appreciated.
Have a wicked good arvo my friend. xo
Awww thanks Anna 🙂 yes! here is to doing what you love and getting paid for it 🙂
I will P.M your email with some suggestions… I think you want something that looks like you have gone to a lot of work, and taste amazing, but was really easy 🙂
Liz xx
I’d love to if you used your thermomix to cook for the 35 people and I’d so can you give me any tips? Thanks!
Yes I did… I had three 🙂 fortunately I also had a large Bain Marie, so I made batches and kept them hot…lasagna, curry, rice pasta… I made soup the night before in the Thermomix in batches then put into slow cookers in the fool room overnight… Got them out and turned the slow cooker on and soups where hot for lunch… Bread was made at night then proved overnight in the fridge, brought out in the morning then cooked as normal when at room temperature… Big green salads, lots of fruit and all my slices make 50 pieces… I hope that helps 🙂
My only suggestion for you Liz is, if you haven’t already done so, sit down tonight, pour yourself a great big glass of red or bubbles or whatever and take a bow.
Beyond the foodie delights you gift us all, it’s really inspirational to see someone following the signposts life leaves out for and having a go!
Thanks for all the work you put in.
Wow Dan, that is so very kind of you! Thanks for popping in to encouraging me, it really does mean a lot! I will indeed have a big glass of bubbles tonight…I might even really splurge and have some while taking a bath! LOL! Thanks again for your lovely words! Liz xx
