Finding The Best Coffee – Terrarium – Maudsland

Terrarium Title

The Top Ten Team have decided that we would like to explore the Northern End of the Gold Coast as our Southern End friends seem to have all the great coffee shops, but as my mate Bob Dylan says “the times they are a changin’.” So the next few post are going to be from the Southport to Coomera Area of the Gold Coast.

Here are a few great coffee shops we have already been to, up the Northern End of The Goldy.

Eat + – Helensvale

Dark Espresso – Chirn Park

French Lantern – Hope Island

Terrarium 1

We have done a few post of lovely cafes down this end of the coast, but in the last 1-2 years, there have been a few standouts that have opened up and the first one on our list is Terrarium at Maudsland. If you haven’t ventured to this Cafe you are missing out. The coffee is stand out and the team at Terrarium is very passionate about their single origins and blends.

Petrina is the owner and is happy to chat about her coffee. I started with a Yama Con Panna… which is basically a cold drip filtered black coffee with cream poured into it. When you take a drink of the lovely smooth cold coffee, you also get a little hit of cream… pretty much coffee perfection.

There is no photo of this coffee because it really doesn’t photograph well… you will just have to go and have a try to see what all the fuss is about. I then followed with a very tasty small cap.

TerrariumThe decor is tasteful with a hint of the Roman influence. My favourite is the water dispenser, it just looks beautiful! Sophia’s Latte $3.80 was smooth and strong, so if you like a weaker coffee please ask and they will make it to your taste.

Terrarium 6

Tanya’s Muguccino, $ 4.80, it looks small in the photo, but it was in fact very large.

Terrarium 4

They have a wonderful display of freshly house made cakes and pastries that change every day! You should pop onto Terrarium’s Facebook Page as they update what they have made each day.

Terrarium 2

Eggs Benny $18

Terrarium 2

Avocado and feta smash with dukka $11. I added a poached egg for and extra $3

Terrarium 3

We have all been there many times as it is our new go to place, both Breakfast and lunch are delicious!

The No Meat Burger (halloumi)

Terrarium 8

Home made pie and chips!

Terrarium 9

Sophia, just wanted a “little something” and this gnocchi came out! Not very little 🙂

Terrarium 10

If you want to check out what is on special, or what the chefs have cooked up in the kitchen on the day you don’t forget to pop onto Terrarium’s Facebook Page for the latest yummies on offer.

Thanks so much for reading!

I have been cooking since I can remember. I am a Thermomix consultant, so now (whenever possible) try to give you Conventional AND Thermomix methods for the recipes. I like to share tips on how to save money and how making food from scratch isn't really that hard (especially with a Thermomix). If you have any questions about the Thermomix or cooking/food in general please email me as I'm happy to chat.

What a gorgeous setting to sip a cuppa coffee, especially the rustic light fixtures. Love the meatless burger too, how freakin delicious is halloumi?
