Liz’s Strawberry Daiquiri (Thermomix Method Included)

IMG_0840

This is probably not the best thing to say, but my very first Strawberry Daiquiri happened in 1987 at a party… yes I was only 15. It was love at first taste and from that moment on, it has been a love affair. I have dabbled with other favours and ingredients, in fact, I have even gone to other spirits like vodka, but I have always returned to this deliciously refreshing drink, that you have to watch, because it will quietly creep up on you!

It is also a bit hit and miss in cocktail bars, so I think that they best way to have the one I like, is to make it myself at home! I must say that the Thermomix has made it a lot easier, quicker and assessable… which could be a bad thing, but hey… life is too short to drink bad cocktails!

Strawberry Daiquiri

Ingredients

2 Punnets of Ripe Strawberries

700g of Ice Cubes

150ml (g) of Bacardi

50ml (g) of Cointreau

100g of sugar

Method – This recipe makes 6 – 8 daiquiris.

1. Remove green tops of strawberries (reserve a few for decoration) and place into Blender/Thermomix

2. Place all other ingredients into Blender until it reaches the desired constancy or Thermomix 30 seconds/speed 9.

3. Place spare strawberries onto the glass, pour in Daiquiri and serve with a straw.

I hope you enjoy my version of this delicious drink… Normally this is the point where I say enjoy irresponsibly… but we all know that alcohol should always be enjoyed responsibly.

I have been cooking since I can remember. I am a Thermomix consultant, so now (whenever possible) try to give you Conventional AND Thermomix methods for the recipes. I like to share tips on how to save money and how making food from scratch isn't really that hard (especially with a Thermomix). If you have any questions about the Thermomix or cooking/food in general please email me as I'm happy to chat.

It certainly is a great drink, Liz and you are right in that ordering it at a bar can often be hit and miss. It’s so disappointing when it’s not good. Fortunately, thanks to you, I can now make my own! It looks so summery and perfect to enjoy at the end of a long hot day xx
