In My Kitchen – March 2015

IMG_2450

Hello from sunny rainy Queensland. Although it has been lovely the last couple of days, but back to over 30ºC every day… so much for Autumn the on the Gold Coast!

It has been a bit of a struggle in my kitchen this month as I have been so busy delivering Thermomix’s, that I haven’t done as much cooking as usually! But here goes for the 3rd Month of the year already!

In my kitchen are organic nuts… These are soaking to activate them and I will dehydrate them and pop them back into glass jars. I find that activating the nuts makes them not only taste delicious, but that they are much better for my stomach, the walnuts particularly!

In my kitchen are cookbooks… I know I don’t have any more space, but these ones are so good and really I must blame the food blogging community for tell me about all these wonderful “must have” cook books. This book was purchased using a Big W voucher I got for Christmas… I love that it celebrates all things vegetable and apart from it being a beautiful cook book, I can’t wait to dive in and make some of the recipes.

Mum and Dad just got back from a 2 week cruise and this was one of my presents. It is the Gourmand World, Number 1 cook book in Australia and was voted number 4 in the world… I haven’t had a chance to look at it, as it literally just arrived, but I am sure with those recommendations, it will be another great addition to my already full bookshelf!

Out of all my purchases this one is my favourite! Not only are the recipes interesting as I haven’t cook much Jewish food, but the stories that go along with them are fascinating! Where the recipes came from, the stories behind the recipes and who cooked them. Not only is it an amazing recipe book, it is an inspiration for us to remember to keep family recipes alive for future generations, which is one of my passions!

And finally in my kitchen is another Custard Tea Cake… as the first one went very quickly! This is the first recipe on my blog to receive nearly 2000 hits, so as a beginner blogger it is very exciting to see people loving my recipe, especially the ones that my nana use to make!

Custard Tea Cake

Well it is short and sweet today… What has been happening in your kitchen this month? Don’t forget to pop over to Celia @ Fig Jam and Lime Cordial and have a look the wonderful IMK’s from food blogger all over the world!

Thanks for reading.

Enjoy Irresponsibly!

I have been cooking since I can remember. I am a Thermomix consultant, so now (whenever possible) try to give you Conventional AND Thermomix methods for the recipes. I like to share tips on how to save money and how making food from scratch isn't really that hard (especially with a Thermomix). If you have any questions about the Thermomix or cooking/food in general please email me as I'm happy to chat.

Plenty, Plenty, Plenty! I love it. Lots of great little recipe in there. It goes without saying that with all of my onions, I plundered that section. Meanwhile, I’ve not even heard of the Holidays cookbook. The dish on the cover of Monday Morning looks fabulous. I heard a couple of these women speak at an event and they talked about how thrilled they were to get Yotam’s endorsement. Must be like when you have 2000 people hit a recipe on your blog! cheers

Love all of your cookbooks – I’m on a self imposed ban of any more for the year, so it’s the library for my fix!!
    Warm regards, Jan

Yes, it really is a dilemma when you have a blog to put up recipes but to also cook out of cook books 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!
