Well it is that time of the month AGAIN! I have been very busy in my kitchen and very busy selling Thermomixes. Most of what is in my kitchen this month is there because it has grown over summer in my garden. We have had a very wet summer here on the Gold Coast, so everything in the garden is out of control. I am looking forward to it getting a bit cooler so I can spend a bit more time pottering around!
In My Kitchen is corn. I love fresh corn and it is really hard to get non genetically modified corn and organic is very expensive. This year we planted more than we could eat and have been cutting, blanching and putting into the freezer, but we have also enjoyed it hot and fresh with lots of butter and cracked pepper.
In My Kitchen are beans, lots of beans, too many beans 🙂 I am about to make the Passionfruit Garden’s Bean Relish so I will let you know next month how it turned out.
In My Kitchen Pickled Radishes… thanks to the recipe from the wonderful Jane Grover. I have spoken about Jane and her book “Naked Food” which I love. I planted these radishes specifically to pickle. Radishes only take 6 – 8 weeks to grow and these are wonderful on salads and with cheese platters.
In My Kitchen are news paper articles… so sorry but it didn’t go on the web 🙁 just in print here on the Gold Coast. It was a lovely full page article so I could only take a photo, sorry.. but it was a great article about my very tidy pantry, my love of good food that you make from scratch and also how I go into people’s homes and help them get organised with the food prep and shopping, to help them save money each week on their food bill! (that is my other job, beside blogging and demonstrating Thermomixes).
In My Kitchen is more Sourdough… thanks to Penelope daughter of Priscilla. I think that this is my best white loaf yet! I have made many different varieties, which have all been wonderful, but this white loaf was so delicious!
In My Kitchen are Birthday Cards 🙂 Yes I had a birthday on the 31st Jan and turned 44. There will be more about turning 44 on Monday in my Monday Musings Post. I particularly like the card on the left and laughed out loud on reading it, as it is exactly what I do while watching food shows! 🙂 Don’t you just love friends who really know you!
Thanks so much for having a look around my kitchen, I hope you enjoyed. Don’t forget to pop over to the beautiful Celia @ Fig Jam and Lime Cordial to see all the other IMK post this month.
Enjoy Irresponsibly!
Liz xx
If you liked this post maybe you would like these?
happy birthday elizabeth – that card is hilarious! (what do they mean IF we watched cooking shows like that!!!!) Love all your produce – fresh corn is the best! and I think I need you to come and restore order to my kitchen 🙂
LOL, I’m sure you kitchen is organised chaos 🙂 and yes I’m always watching cooking shows like that! Thanks for dropping in and saying hello 🙂 Liz xx
Liz, Happy (belated) Birthday — hope you enjoyed your special day! Your corn photos were breathtaking, as were your bread baking pictures and organizational skills. (Thanks for the inspiration!) Apologies if this appears as a “duplicate comment”… don’t know what I clicked, but I got “stuck” on your second corn photo, happily so, lol! Hear, hear for non-GMO produce.
Thanks Kim 🙂 I had a wonderful few days… I always seem to spread it out for at least a few days of me 🙂 Yes non-GMO is definitely better! thanks for popping in… I hope your house/kitchen is coming along! Liz xx
Happy belated birthday! And you look so lovely in that newspaper photo, Liz! I’m glad Penelope’s still looking after you – that loaf looks fantastic – and your corn looks perfect. We grew it once, but all the cobs were a bit wonky!
Thanks Celia… I love my corn and yes it grown really well here in Queensland in summer! Thanks for popping by! Liz x
Your loaf looks wonderful. Happy birthday btw. It gets easier every year:). Lovely to see you in the paper.
Thanks sherry! LOL I hope it gets easier… and yes it was a great article 🙂 thanks for stopping by! Liz xx
Well I’m glad we got to see you in the paper. That’s an interesting job, helping people sort their pantries and improve their thrifty habits. I like the idea of the radishes so I think I’ll give it a go. cheers Fiona xx
Thanks Fiona… Just a bit of fun 🙂 nothing has really happened from it yet… not sure how big you have to get before someone wants to advertise 🙂 The raises are lovely! Thanks for popping in as always! Liz xx
Yay to sourdough. Yours looks lovely. Congrats on the article.
Thanks Jennifer… yes I think Celia has started a revolution, now all my friends are baking too! 🙂 Thanks for dropping by! Liz xx
I rally could use your help to make order in my kitchen. I seem to just bounce from one cake to the next and 6 recipes in between. After all that order you still have time for growing vegetables, you are amazing. I wish I could get my hands on that card it is very funny. Love your article too.
LOL Tania, let me know, I’d love to come and see you kitchen and help you out… ANYTIME 🙂 thanks for dropping by! Liz xx
Heaven! Every (almost) single bit here I love! Love my Tupperware, love corn and beans. Pickled radishes up there in my list of top 10 pickled things, Make and love sourdough (no priscilla though). The only thing we differ on is I’m not into cards. Love and appreciate the clever and artistic creations but hate getting them as I can’t see the need to keep them and feel bad when I piff them after a couple of weeks. Happy with friends to send me a photo or write on a scrap of paper. 🙂
LOL That is great Maree 🙂 I have to say that I am a bit of a card hoarder. I do try to scrapbook a couple of pages of my fav cards each year and the rest I do recycle 🙂 Thanks so much for popping in 🙂 Liz xx
Happy, happy birthday! And thanks so much for the peek into your kitchen! xo
Thanks so much Lizzy, I will be dropping buy yours very soon 🙂 Liz xx
i love that card too. So much so that when I snorted/laughed i dislodged the nursling and copped a filthy look.
Your produce looks amazing. I wish we were neighbours so we could produce swap and I could hound you for Thermomix demos!
Congratulations on the full page story! x
LOL Yes Lisa, it is rather funny 🙂 and thanks I was very overwhelmed at the full page… so we will see what happens 🙂 I can’t wait to move to somewhere about 10 acres and have neighbours I can swap things with… Oh if only 🙂 but I cam dream! And I’m sure that if I go on a road trip and could do a demo for you 🙂 Thanks for popping by! Liz xx
